Affinity Groups of TBZ

Do you have a special interest or affinity? Then join one of our affinity groups described below or create your own! If you are interested in starting a group, please contact Rabbi Pokras by clicking here or at 836-6565, Ext.138.

Knitting Affinity Group

The Knitting Affinity Group has had two meetings and we are all getting to know each other month-by-month. Members came to the group with various skill levels, so the more advanced knitters are helping the newbies.  For this reason, our group decided that we would enjoy personal knitting, and along the way we would incorporate some mitzvah projects. Ideas discussed included scarves for the Righteous Among the Nations, scarves for older people and little preemie caps for the local hospitals and other charities.

We avidly welcome new and interested people to join us. We meet the second Thursday of the month, and for the time being we're knitting at the home of one of our members in the Town of Tonawanda. If you are interested in joining us, please email me by clicking here for more information.

Theater Affinity Group

An enjoyable afternoon was had on January 28 at the MusicalFare production of "Avenue Q". There is some interest in MuscialFare's production of Roger & Hammerstein's "A Grand Night for Singing". This features favorite songs from shows such as "Sound of Music", "The King & I", etc. Performances run April 11 - May 20. If you are interested in seeing this musical, or would like to discuss seeing any other shows in the area, please contact me by clicking here.  There is so much good theater in the area, and attending the theater is such an uplifting experience. We would love to have more people join us!

Gastropub Affinity Group

While some might say a Molson Ex and wings at Coles was a Gastropub long before The Eagle (Wiki it), the Buffalo bar scene is seeing many fine examples of the Gastropub experience springing up - exotic beers, ales, lagers, stouts and ciders accompanied by trendy morsels. Once a month or so come and join us as we sample one of Buffalo's finest new (and sometimes oldest) bars. Black Rock Kitchen and Grill, Blue Monk, Café Europa, WJ Morrissey, and Cantina Loco start our adventure, in no particular order. Add your favorite. Maybe we can even remember to take notes and have our own tag for Urbanspoon and Yelp.

Larry Rubin and Steve Bellus will be your co-hosts. For more information contact Larry by clicking here.
