TBZ Religious School
Welcome to our Religious School! Please join us at 700 Sweet Home Road in our new space designed to fit the needs of our families. We have a new Interim Director; Susan Goldberg and her door is always open. Feel free to contact her at education@tbz.org or 716-836-6565 ext. 130. Our calendar for the full year can be found below.
Our mission is to provide Jewish education for our children in a creative and nurturing environment. Our curriculum is designed to foster a life long love for Judaism, preparation for B-Mitzvah and promote Jewish values. Our team of educators and clergy aim to create a community that allows for the development of leadership, lifelong friendships and preserves our traditions and values.
We have made some changes based on parent input, this will include:
New school hours will be from 9:30-12:00 on Sundays, with a 2nd session for students in grades 2-6 at noon on Sundays or after school on Thursdays. Hebrew will be the primary focus of this additional session.
-
Hebrew instruction will also take place on Sunday mornings in classrooms. We will continue with Aleph Champ for our beginning Hebrew students. Once they complete the Aleph Champ program, they will be moved into the Hineni Hebrew curriculum
-
Beginning in October, students in grades 4-7 will participate in Chuggim (electives)
-
Students in 7th grade will be exposed to Torah trope (chanting) as part of their curriculum. Their Hebrew studies will be coordinated with their B-Mitzvah preparation
-
We will have a new Purim Schpiel just for kids, try-outs and rehearsals will begin after the High Holidays
Other notable items:
-
Mazel Tots will continue on a monthly basis for pre-K kids with a grown up
-
Rabbi Gutmann and other local Jewish Leaders will offer “Bagels and Basics” classes for interested adults on a monthly basis
-
Rehearsal for the kid’s choir will continue to be after Religious School, tentatively scheduled for 1:00 pm
